Long Term Goals

A longer-term goal for the club is to compete with the best in the World Open Ocean Outrigger Canoe Championship at Moloka’I in beautiful Hawaii. This 80km ocean crossing is regarded s the toughest event of its kind in the world.

Several Pittwater members have already competed in this race with impressive success.  Jane Hall was part of the Australian “Riggeroos” team who won in both 1997 and 1998.  We also had Lauren, Jo Thompson, Lindy Chester and Vicki, who also competed with American teams in 2005.  It would be fantastic to have a Pittwater team there, again flying the Aussie and Peninsula flag.

We would also like to continue to nurture and coach the junior team as they will be the talent for the future.
