Hi all

20 Beaches Race

The 20 Beaches race is on Saturday 23rd December. The race is usually done as a mixed crew, its 26km down sea, usually Palm Beach to Manly but can be vice versa. Can be done iron (no changes) or with changes. The iron event in particular, is for more experienced paddlers, but if you are considering putting your name down for the changes event, its rather like 2 1/5 hours of what we came back in at Mollymook on the weekend, so it can be quite challenging..
Let me know if you are interested, and which category -iron or changes, either via email or on the board at BYRA where the men's training session is listed.

Mollymook
Congratulations all on a great weekend! Some mixed results, our womens, first crew - a solid win. Now we are waiting to take on Northern Beaches again! Womens second crew - Great Work! A very novice crew and what a good effort in challenging conditions for you, and as for Dawn's steering, what can I say. A reminder to all that Dawn has been steering for 3 weeks and took on the conditions that were challenging ...congratulations Dawn a brilliant effort - the rest is now experience!
Men's first Crew shows great promise - just need to get that open ocean experience - we really need those outside sessions. 2 flips, but at least they didn't go turtle as the Golden Oldies did. Like shags on a rock I was told, stuck on a rock with no water - PD's guys are still laughing. Great result from the boys and we welcome the former Ocean Paddlers into Pittwater.

Thanks to all who helped with the (re) rigging (thanks on this occassion to Greg, Graham, Craig, who were there at the beginning of the regatta), and (un) loading, and a gentle reminder to all - if you cannot help rig at the event please ensure you are available to re-rig at the other end, always 6pm at BYRA with beers!. Also as discussed at the meeting, a reminder for the next regatta that we require 6 men to make themselves available to help rig at the beginning of regattas, but you must be prepared to listen and if the rig isn't straight , it will be have to be redone, hopefully pleasantly! Its nothing personal - just has to be done right!!.

Training
There's a few faces we haven't been seen regularly at training - hey if we want to win / improve we have to put in the effort!. Hope to see Big Pete, Kevin C and some of the others to get that Men’s masters crew up!.

Meeting
In the absence of minutes from meeting, the main points.....
Xmas party now will be in January 14th around 4pm Winnermery Bay - to be confirmed (but the Girls are having a Xmas Breakfast this Saturday on the deck after training - boys welcome)
Morning training - keep it quiet becasue of our neighbours
Ocean paddlers Club have now merged with Pittwater, welcome. Canoes currently being sorted.
Bladerunner OC6 to be repaired and likely kept at Palm Beach with the former Ocean Paddlers canoe, to facilitate outside training.
A new OC6 / Club equipment/ turnover of old OC6s still under discussion until all equipment can be assessed.
Men’s training times still under discussion.

See you at training!
